Overlord is dan ook het beste te beschrijven als een historisch drama met een twist. De twist duurt lang, maar als de hel losbarst dan gebeurd dat ook goed. Het verzacht de stevige kritiek op een gebrek aan spanning en het toch wel matige acteerwerk iets.
